Liz & Shane decided to have one of my favourite type of receptions: a picnic wedding. They decided on the lovely African Silhouette Guest House as a venue. It was a perfect day with the ceremony being held outside & Liz looked beautiful in her dress that had touches of pink & purple. I love how unique these two made their wedding day whilst still keeping it very down-to-earth. I adore the candy buffet which worked so well with the picnic theme.

I met Zoe & Andrew on the day of their wedding, not being sure what to expect, but was pleasantly suprised to meet this very lovely bridal couple. Zoe is a self-proclaimed tomboy, which I find very hard to believe as she looked angelic on her wedding day. This wedding was such great fun for so many reasons. Guests came from all corners of the world to celebrate their wedding. The reception was held at Andrew’s aunt’s absolutely gorgeous home & so much effort was put into every detail of their wedding day: the origami birds hanging from the trees, the perfect lighting, the elegant decor and the divine food and drink.
I also absolutely adore the way Zoe & Andrew met. Even though they were both on different corners of the world, they found each other on a chatroom. After many years of being nothing more than really close online friends, they decided to meet up in Eqypt which was half way between both of them. Sparks flew & they’ve been together ever since!

Odette & Marthinus make such a lovely couple. I was very excited to be a part of their amazing day. From the moment I met them, I knew this would be a great heartwarming wedding. They had their wedding at Makiti Wedding Venue – a venue with absolutely gorgeous gardens which is nestled in Kromdraai Valley – on the 5th of April 2012. They decided on a peacock feather themed wedding with a turquoise colour scheme. As neither of them are from Johannesburg, friends & family came from all over to celebrate this special day with the couple. Odette looked fantastic in both her ceremony & party dress! I also love how eager all their guests were to be photographed. It’s always such a nice experience when all the guests at a wedding are there to sincerely support the couple with their big step into marriage, and this was definitely the case at their wedding. Congratulations to the both of them. It was an amazing day!
Here’s what Odette has to say about how their wedding day:
“Ever since we met, we always wanted to be different from others. We wanted our wedding to be different and special. We combined what we liked. Our inspiration came from the colours of a peacock’s feather – the blues, greens, bits of purple and turquoise was very lovely to work with. It is a possessor of some of the most admired human characteristics and is a symbol of integrity and the beauty we can achieve when we endeavor to show our true colors. Makiti, the venue we chose, was a lovely and beautiful place with a magnificent garden for fantastic photos.”

Chantell & Gary celebrated their wedding day on the 17th of March 2012 in Alberton. It was such a pleasure being a part of their wedding. The day was filled with special gestures from friends and family & it was a heartwarming occasion. I loved all the detail they put into the planning of their day & how well everything turned out.
Here’s Chantell’s version of how they fell in love:
“ I found my love in a video store, what a love story! At first I thought of him as a really good friend,
but I realized that my feelings didn’t end there. After renting almost every movie in the shop & two years had gone past, I was still so afraid to tell him because I didn’t know what he would do. Then I discovered that he felt the same way! Ten years later we are still together and still very much in love!”
Chantell also has some advice for other to-be brides:
“The best mindset to have is to think of stress as the enemy, just make sure you don’t get stressed about being stressed! Realize your budget and plan accordingly. Try and do as much as you can yourself, because that way you’ll appreciate it more and it’ll be exactly what you want! Most importantly, have fun! A wedding is a celebration of love and at the end of the day if you are stressed and overly tired it’ll sure show in your photos – best choosing your photographer carefully; I know I chose the best! All I wanted was to bind our love in marriage and give my guests an unforgettable night!”
For her wedding, Chantell wanted their unique personalities to show in the decor:
“It started with the invites, I wasn’t looking for an ordinary invite and so I came up with the newspaper idea! I called it Romantic Times. I asked a couple of people for some stories, they had no idea what they were giving the stories for and at the end of the day it worked out to be stunning! People loved it! Our seating plan was glass coke bottles, form Coca Cola Depo in Vanderbijlpark, and instead of table numbers we used table names such as Peace, Love and Hope.”

On the 14th of March 2012, a beautiful bright and sunny Wednesday, Anthea & Adrian said their “I do’s”. I absolutely loved everything about this wedding, from Anthea’s vintage short and long combination dress, the choice of flowers & the fact that the venue was on a golf course (which meant getting to play around with golf cars during the couple shots!).
Mr & Mrs Kirsten make such a sweet couple and their very relaxed yet creative nature made them an awesome couple to work with!
Here’s what Anthea has to say about her hubby & their wedding day:
“We started dating on 14 March 2006 & very soon he became my mentor, my best friend and the love of my life. Five years later, 14 March 2011, he finally proposed! Exactly a year later, 14 March 2012, we devoted our lives to each other. I still get butterflies when I see him. I cannot imagine a better day or a better life. Thanks to Izzy we have amazing memories of our special day.”
Here are some shots of their lovely day:
