Liz & Shane decided to have one of my favourite type of receptions: a picnic wedding. They decided on the lovely African Silhouette Guest House as a venue. It was a perfect day with the ceremony being held outside & Liz looked beautiful in her dress that had touches of pink & purple. I love how unique these two made their wedding day whilst still keeping it very down-to-earth. I adore the candy buffet which worked so well with the picnic theme.

Here’s Mrs Steyn’s version of how they met & fell in love:

“Shane and I met through good friends of ours about five years ago. The first weekend I met Shane we just spoke briefly and went on our separate ways. The weekend of the 14th of July 2007 I planned on returning to our hometown of Empangeni in KZN to throw my sister’s 21 st birthday party. The night of the 13th of July 2007 my sister and I and a couple of close friends decided to go to the local club to have a couple of celebratory drinks and to my surprise Shane was there. All I can say is that one thing led to another and we have been inseparable ever since.  I did find out that us meeting again was not a coincidence! Shane had arranged with my sister and friends for them to bring me to the club so that he could see me once more. I am truly grateful that he did!”

Liz also explains her reasoning for chosing a picnic theme:

“The reason for us selecting to go for the option of a day vintage garden picnic wedding was because we were on an extremely tight budget. A good friend of mine got married about a year and ago and she opted to go for a picnic wedding as well. After looking at her photos I immediately fell totally in love with the idea so I started shopping around. I found Dial A Picnic, got in touch with the Alberton branch and liaised with Manuela about the various options available. Manuela referred me to venues that she has previously worked with and through her I found African Silhouette Guest House.

My main focus for my wedding was to do something completely different as to the conventional white wedding . I have always been in love with the vintage era and thought that this would suite me best. The Sweetheart Candy Buffet came into play as I thought it would create a fun atmosphere for me and my husband including our guests. The sweet buffet was a big hit! Let me not forget my awesome photographer and her partner. You guys went above and beyond and made us all feel comfortable! It was a fun, relaxing and an awesome day spent with loving family and friends.”
