MR & MRS EHLERS |barnyard mpumalanga highveld weddingMarch 24, 2014

The Mpumalanga Highveld is one of my favourite parts of the country – its picturesque scenery is ideal for a wedding! Liezel & Ruan said their “I do’s” at the charming Barnyard Lodge in Ermelo on the 1st of February 2014. This wedding truly was a photographer’s dream wedding – besides for the beautiful location, we were spoilt with so much decor details and the natural light due to the cloudiness on the day was amazing. Liezel & Ruan gave us an opportunity to take some couple photos before and after the ceremony (something I strongly recommend all couples consider as it allows for some sort of back up option in case it should rain later on the day) and we managed to use all of this time for couple photos – the rain started falling just as the reception started.

Mr & Mrs Ehlers were a stunning couple to work with – they were calm, relaxed and so natural in front of the cameras – they have a visible chemistry together and they truly are beautiful inside and out.

Minette & Jan Hugo tied the knot on the 5th of January 2014 at Makiti wedding venue in the Cradle of Humankind area. It was my first wedding for 2014 and I was very excited to start off the year with this beautiful morning ceremony and brunch reception. It was relaxed yet elegant and Minette and Jan Hugo are an amazing couple to work with! I absolutely love a good, school acquintances/online reconnecting, love story and this one is really beautiful.

MR & MRS VERTUE |three rivers vereeniging vaal weddingJuly 2, 2013

Beverley & Kent said their vows on the 11th of May 2013, a rainy winter’s day, at Three Rivers – a lovely boutique hotel in the Vaal/Vereeniging area. Beverley was a bridesmaid at a previous wedding we covered and it was great seeing her as a bride. Both of them looked amazing – I just love her fitted gown & those vibrant blue bridesmaid dresses. A storm started brewing just before the couple’s photo session and we had a chance to play around with umbrellas and undercover areas for a change. Fortunately, Three Rivers Boutique Hotel had a wide variety of undercover options 😉

How did you meet/fall in love and how did the proposal happen?
Beverley: “We met in first year varsity at Wits. Kent was the quiet guy and I was the lost blonde girl. I asked him if he was in my physics class and we started chatting occasionally. Kent was so quiet that I actually thought he found me to be annoying, so when he asked me out (via SMS) I was rather stunned and confused. Kent proposed after eight years, in our home. He put the ring box in between a huge spread of sushi (my favourite food)… It was a random day in the week and so was very unexpected.”

Can you tell me about your inspiration – how did you do things differently?

Sebastian & Marshree planned their wedding in two weeks! I’ve worked with couples that have planned their whole wedding in three months or so, but I’ve never seen anyone plan their wedding in such a short time! They did a fantastic job and with the help of friends and family they created one of the loveliest atmospheres I’ve ever felt at a wedding.

They tied the knot with a Hindu ceremony on the 13th of April 2013 at Maha Jwala Narasimha Temple in Alan Manor and hosted the reception at a private clubhouse in Fourways. Marshree describes the day as a “fun, less is more” celebration where everyone could just enjoy themselves and I couldn’t agree more. It was small, intimate and truly a very precious day.
