I really love when couples book me way in advance – it gives me so much time to get to know them. They end up feeling more like friends than clients! Madelaine & Jaun are one of these couples. I’ve been chatting to Madelaine for many months about their wedding day and she kept me up-to-date with every part of the planning process. I have such a soft spot for this beautiful (inside & out) bride and it was devastating when I heard that her father passed away just before their wedding day. I thought it was beautiful that she dedicated a very precious scrapbook to her father on the day to make sure his presence was felt. Her elegance in dealing with every and any difficult situation has given me such great respect for her.

Their vintage dusky rose wedding was held at Kuthaba Bush Lodge in Modimolle, Limpopo on the 20th of April 2013. It was a weekend affair and started with a social braai the Friday evening, their wedding on the Saturday and a breakfast buffet on the Sunday morning. We were all pretty tense when it POURED on the wedding day – now don’t get me wrong, rain can be amazing on a wedding day – but these two were hoping for a sunny day and I just felt they deserved to have this wish come true. Needless to say, it was a BIG relief when the rain stopped just before the ceremony started and we had the most beautiful golden sunlight to work with during the newly-wed session. 🙂

It’s no secret that Rosemary Hill, a lovely organic farm just outside of Pretoria, is one of my favourite wedding venues in South Africa. So you can imagine my excitement when it was finally time for us on the 26th of January 2013 to photograph a wedding at this ridiculously awesome venue. Cloudene and Dietrich are such a wonderful couple! They just fit so well together – they complement each other in every way and I adore how natural they were in front of the camera.

I asked this lovely couple to share a bit of their relationship details with us:

When did you know you had found the one:

“There was not a defining moment for either of us; no light bulb suddenly lit up. We gradually became aware that our friendship and love for another was sincere and honest. He has the goofiest jokes and the kindest heart of anyone I have ever met.”

“She has the most beautiful smile and most amazing way of making people feel comfortable around her. Her down to earth beauty and personality makes her an unbelievable partner and my best friend!”

On the 16th of December 2012, Zunaid & Aadilah became husband and wife during a beautiful wedding ceremony at Bosmont Masjid in Johannesburg. This was the first Islamic wedding ceremony I had ever attended and I felt so honored to be their photographer – I was beyond excited! It was an amazing day filled with family and friends and tons of special moments.

The day started at Bosmont Masjid followed by the marriage register/license being signed at Aadilah’s parents’ home. Zunaid then took his lovely bride to his home (just down the street) where lunch was served and the celebration started. The couple got dressed in their reception attire (two wedding dresses – what a lucky bride!) and the celebration continued at En Gedi wedding venue in the Cradle of Humankind.
