Charlene & Willem’s wedding day was one of the highlights of my year! This couple and their guests were some of the nicest people I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. They made us feel right at home in their beautiful town, Piet Retief (click here to view their engagement photoshoot that was also captured in their hometown). Charlene & Willem said their vows on the 7th of February 2015 at a chapel in town that has special sentimental value to them and their reception took place at Charlene’s old school.

The look and feel of their wedding day was rustic/vintage – they had so many creative & handmade decor ideas, I love the apple and pear shapes made from books! Also, the kneeling pillows used during the ceremony was Charlene’s grandparents wedding kneeling pillows from 59 years ago! The couple’s newlywed photo session was almost cut short after a thunderstorm started, but luckily there was no rain at the reception venue and we were able to take some beautiful shots in the forest plantations.

I’ve always been eager to cover an elopement, so when Jay & Irma contacted me about their small elopement-wedding, at Luiperdskloof Game Lodge in Bronkhorstpruit on the 9th of November 2013, I was beyond excited – and it was everything I thought it would be! Their wedding day was unpretentious & intimate and it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of it. Mr & Mrs Smith both looked amazing – I just adore Irma’s dress with it’s off-white ribbon! Bronkhorstspruit is a very picturesque venue and offered lovely backdrops for the photos.

How did the proposal happen?

On the 16th of December 2012, Zunaid & Aadilah became husband and wife during a beautiful wedding ceremony at Bosmont Masjid in Johannesburg. This was the first Islamic wedding ceremony I had ever attended and I felt so honored to be their photographer – I was beyond excited! It was an amazing day filled with family and friends and tons of special moments.

The day started at Bosmont Masjid followed by the marriage register/license being signed at Aadilah’s parents’ home. Zunaid then took his lovely bride to his home (just down the street) where lunch was served and the celebration started. The couple got dressed in their reception attire (two wedding dresses – what a lucky bride!) and the celebration continued at En Gedi wedding venue in the Cradle of Humankind.
