Inge & Stuart said their vows to each other on the 4th of October 2014 at the tranquil and beautiful gem of a venue, Olive Mystery, in Bapsfontein. I can not emphasise enough what lovely people Inge & Stuart are – I’ve been looking forward to their wedding day since I met them. Inge & I share a love for rabbits so I absolutely adore the bunny decor! So much thought went into every detail of their wedding day and it shows – their day was perfect and the start of what I believe will be a fairytale marriage 🙂
How did you meet / How did the proposal happen?
Inge: “We actually met in high school, and spent quite a lot of time together but lost contact as the years passed. In 2012 we ‘found’ each other again and just started chatting – Stuart was working abroad at that time and when he finally came back to South Africa on a rotation we met up, and as they say.. the rest is history!! The proposal was really special and completely unexpected for me.. We were in Mozambique for a friend’s wedding, and the day before the ceremony he popped the question in front of everyone just after lunch. Needless to say, I was swept off my feet and became the luckiest girl in the world! We decided to get married a year later, on the day Stuart proposed.”
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Inge: “There were so many favourites, it’s hard to simply choose one! Stuart says his favourite was when I walked down the aisle and he saw me, because then he knew everything would be alright! I really loved every moment of our wedding – from the prayer my maid of honour said for me before the ceremony, to seeing Stu’s face in the chapel, the vows and the speeches and our first dance… I felt like such a princess.. everything was perfect – it was really magical!”
How would you describe your wedding theme?
Inge: “I am not sure if we really had a theme per se.. but um.. poor Stu didn’t really have much of a say!! But everything came together really well. I wanted to be involved so I pretty much did everything myself. From all the stationery to the décor and so forth – I just wanted it to be elegant and fun, with the two things I love – bunnies and proteas!”
Do you have any tips/advice for our future brides and grooms?
Inge: “Brides – choose your DIY projects carefully and don’t take on too much! Luckily we started planning our wedding well in advance so there was enough time to get to everything we wanted to do. Work as a team and involve your groom.. I am so blessed because Stu really did a great deal for our wedding – from driving around with me from one place to another on weekends to sanding and painting our ‘Guest Bench’ which everyone had to sign, to cutting paper for stationery – you name it! He was amazing! I just loved planning our wedding, and didn’t let anything that did not go as planned get to me – just go with the flow and have fun!”
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Inge: “We had a lot of help from many people and certainly could not have pulled it off without them! I must say a big thank you to my maid of honour and bridesmaid and of course my amazing mom, Ronel – she was always there for me and ready to talk ‘wedding’! Thank you Iz and G for making us feel so relaxed and capturing our most precious memories – you were amazing! Stu says ‘the photographers become the co-ordinators from the minute they get there to the minute they leave, because of all your knowledge and guidance – we are truly grateful for that!’ Last but certainly not least.. I am also so privileged and thankful for my amazing husband! Thank you Stu, for making me the happiest girl in the world!”
