In an elegant and soft pastel covered celebration, Maryke & Wim tied the knot on the 9th of March 2013 at Misty River wedding venue in the South of Johannesburg. It was a beautiful day & I just adore how in love these two are!
In Maryke’s own words, this is how the two of them met:
“At the end of 2010, we were supposed to meet at a braai on a blind date, which never happened. I then invited Wim as a friend on Facebook and we occasionally said ‘hello’ to each other. Only about 10 months after we were initially supposed to meet, did we go on our first date and it was pretty much love at first sight.”
Tell us a bit about your wedding planning process and inspiration:
“Initially I wanted to choose wedding colours, but Wim and I could not agree on them – he would either dislike what I chose or vice versa. We then saw a picture of a multicolor pastel wedding and added a bit of crystal for some sparkle and that was it! We wanted a classy and elegant wedding without breaking the bank, so all of our suppliers, except our photographers were sourced in our home town. My mom and I also made the crystals hanging from the trees 3 nights before the wedding.”
How would you describe your wedding theme?
“Wim and I waited such a long time for each other that we said from day one the wedding must be 3 things – soft, elegant and people must be able to feel and share in the love! We wanted it to be a special day for all the people there as much as it was for us! I always believed I would have my fairytale wedding and that is exactly what it was!”
What was your favourite part or things about your wedding?
“The fact that everybody joined in all parts of the wedding… family we have never seen dance was shuffling their dancing feet and many people have told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to, due to the less formal approach and the clear, true displays of love everywhere!”
Maryke has the following advice for future brides and grooms:
“Do plan it in advance so you are not stressed closer to the wedding.
Do not spend too much money on wedding magazines – I found all of my suppliers via the Internet.
Do not forget that this is going to be one of the biggest events of your life – stop stressing and enjoy every minute of the planning and the big day!
Many people told me to remember to take in everything on the day – the colours to decor to food – and I am so happy I did!”
Is there anything else you would like to add?
“Behalwe dat jy en Gerhard fantasties is en dat ons julle aan elke liewe persoon wat trou sal aanbeveel???”
Their wedding day was filled with beautiful pastels, the loveliest flowers and decor, a stunning bride & groom and a very merry reception. I’m so glad these two found each other – it’s clear that Maryke & Wim are meant to be together! It really was such a pleasure to be a part of this wedding day.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Wolmarans; may your life together be filled with much love and happiness!
