End of last year we participated in Wedding Friends‘s 24-day Xmas Give Away. Here’s the blogpost regarding the awesome competition hosted by Wedding Friends: Win a Free Engagement Session worth R1000. The winner of the competition was announced on Wedding Friends’ blog as Charlene Riep!

Charlene and her then fiancé (now hubby) Morne wanted to do an engagement session with a retro feel so we headed to Ed’s Diner in Pretoria. It was such a fun photoshoot. Ed’s Diner is really such a great spot for an old-school setting!

In Charlene’s own words, this is their love story:

“Who says second chances don’t happen? My brother & Morne’s sister & brother in-law have been friends for about 16 years. In that time I was aware of Morne’s existence, and I even had a high school crush on him, but being 9 years my senior that was all it was… a crush. In 2009 Morne & I started chatting on Facebook & immediately hit it off. We went out for about 9 months but it was not meant to be. In 2010 we met up again, and decided in 2011 to give us another go. This time things were perfect. In January 2012 we decided to go to Kruger National Park for my birthday. I felt I could kill him the first few days. He was super snappy & irritated. Two days after my birthday he insisted we go for drinks at the Lower Sabie restaurant after supper. I didn’t suspect anything as we were already having our own braai. He kept on insisting to go to the restaurant. Finally i just gave in & said fine let’s go. Got there, and there was a beautifully set table. I figured, a bit late, but a nice birthday present. Still the man could not sit still, up & down, here & there, taking photos, watching fireflies. And then as we sat down again for the twentieth time, there he was standing on his knee. I can’t remember exactly what he said, but I can remember me crying & saying ‘YES! YES! YES!’ We got married 2 March 2013. And I can blissfully say that I am married to my best friend!”

Thanks to the team of Wedding Friends for organising this competition and bringing me into contact with this sweet couple!
