If you follow our blog, you might recognize Monika & Gareth from their engagement session beginning 2012 (click here to view Monika & Gareth’s coffee date & picnic e-session). Back then they had barely even decided on a venue yet, but I knew that what ever they ended up planning would be awesome and it sure was! Monika & Gareth said their “I do’s” on the 24th of November 2012 at Chrisanna wedding venue in Krugersdorp.
I asked Monika to tell me about her favourite part of their wedding day:
“It’s so difficult to say, everything just worked out! Even the rain stopped for our wedding. When I woke up the morning, it was pouring! Everybody was moaning about me standing at the window praying all the time that it would stop, but by the time my make-up was done the rain had stopped!”
Monika says she found inspiration in doing as much as possible herself or with friends and family. This gave her the opportunity to give their wedding that much required personal touch. The decor was beautifully thought-out – there were so many lovely details at their wedding. They had a button-themed wedding and there were so many DIY elements at their wedding: the bouquets, buttonnaires, button cookies, popcorn confetti, fascinator, table numbers and table placings were all handmade!
To say the reception at Monika & Gareth’s wedding was eventful is an understatement! They made their guests work for their meals, the bouquet and the garter! This of course made for some exciting photos! 😉 There was not one boring moment during their wedding reception – from guests competing (and cheating!) in hula hoop games to the bride and groom playing the shoe game (click here to read more about the shoe game).
When I asked Monika if there is anything in retrospect that she would have done differently, she responded:
“I would have made our wedding a whole weekend long!”
Monika & Gareth have some advice for future brides & grooms that are currently in the process of planning their wedding:
“Try to stay calm during the whole process and appreciate everything; time goes by so fast and then it’s all over! Some things will go wrong, but try to put it in perspective adn see the bright side of things. Remember what the day is really about!”
They also had some kind words to share about us:
“Must say, our favourite vendor was definitely Iz and Gerhard. It almost felt like they were our friends the way you guys treated us and always thought of us first. You always had time for a chat or to put another photo of us up on Facebook. Thank you for the great service!”
Awh, such lovely words & we are SO glad we were the chosen photographers for this stunning wedding! After months of anticipation their wedding day finally came and went and it was an unforgettable day.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Hinrichsen, you two make such a lovely couple – may your marriage be filled with as much happiness, laughter and special moments as your wedding day was!
